The construction sector is one of the heaviest consumers of welded fabrication. Industrial facilities, warehouses, malls, hotels and offices are erected with steel frames. Within structural steel fabrication, columns, beams, trusses and connection details are welded both in shop and on site. ArmaWeld manufactures EN 1090 EXC2/EXC3 certified structural steel from its Konya facility.

1. Structural Steel Grades

  • S235/S275: general construction, light structures
  • S355: industrial primary members
  • S420/S460: high-strength projects
  • S355 J0/J2/JR: selection by impact toughness class

2. EN 1090 EXC Classes for Construction

The EXC class is set per structure type and risk level. Typically:

Structure TypeEXC Class
Agricultural building, small warehouseEXC1
Industrial building, mallEXC2
Multi-story building, crane runways, bridgesEXC3
High-risk structures (stadiums, special)EXC4

3. Connection Details

Construction steel uses welded (shop), bolted (site) or hybrid connections. For full-penetration welds in shop, joint preparation per EN ISO 9692-1 applies. MAG/FCAW dominates site welding. Bolted connections use preloaded HV bolts per EN 14399.

4. Typical Project Flow

Construction steel projects flow through design coordination, shop prefabrication, surface preparation (Sa 2½), painting or galvanizing, logistics and site erection. ArmaWeld ships modules from Konya across Türkiye and to export markets. With site erection coordination, turn-key solutions are delivered.
